Best of Rules: Assign a package and dimensions to my shipments

ShippingEasy has a way to automatically assign a package and dimensions to your orders. Save a custom package, assign it to a Saved Selection, then apply it with a Shipping Rule.

A little prep work is required before setting up the shipping rule, but it will save you so much time down the road. If you've already configured a custom package and Saved Selection, you can skip right to creating your Shipping Rule.

Step 1 - Save a custom package:

  1. Go to SETTINGS >>PACKAGE SETUP.
  2. Click the blue Add New button.
  3. Enter your custom package details and Save.

Step 2 - Create a Saved Selection:

  1. From the READY TO SHIP page, select the CarrierService and Packaging for the shipment.  Be sure to select the custom package you just created.
  2. Check the box under "Save Selections" to Save my Carrier Selections for future use.
  3. Enter a name for your new Saved Selection and click Save.

Step 3 - Add a Shipping Rule:

View our general Shipping Rules set up guide and follow these specifics steps:

  1. Go to SETTINGS >> SHIPPING RULES.
  2. Click the blue Add New button.
  3. In the field Rule Name, enter a name that describes this rule, such as "Assign custom package".
  4. Set the "IF" condition.  Consider what conditions need to be met for the package/selection to be applied to a particular shipment. You may set more than one condition. View a complete list of available conditions.
  5. Set the "THEN" action to: Set saved carrier selection | select your saved selection from the list provided.
  6. Save your new rule and you're done! You'll start seeing your custom package and carrier selections automatically applied to new qualifying orders on the READY TO SHIP page.
