Tracking USPS International Shipments | Overview

This article describes a service provided by the United States Postal Service (USPS).

The USPS is a separate organization from ShippingEasy.

International shipment tracking will vary from country to country depending on their scanning capabilities and agreements with other country's postal departments. If you are experiencing an issue with tracking your USPS package, contact for help.

Tracking with USPS

Certain USPS services offer more tracking details than others by scanning packages at various delivery points as the item moves in transit. Find out which USPS services provide tracking to the destination.

Packages will be scanned - at a minimum - during initial acceptance and delivery, or attempted delivery.  USPS shipments traveling outside of the US can be tracked using the USPS Track & Confirm tool. This tool allows you to confirm the status and location of your item. Learn more common tracking statuses and their meanings.

Within the ShippingEasy app, you can track your USPS shipments from your SHIPMENT HISTORY page. Follow these links for more information:

International USPS services offering tracking

  Guaranteed Delivery Time Non-guaranteed Delivery Time
Priority Mail International Not available 6-10 day delivery and tracking to many international delivery locations. Limited tracking to the destination. Learn more.
Priority Mail Express International 3-5 day delivery to select international locations, when paid for and mailed from a Post Office™ location (Further restrictions apply). Available to more than 180 international countries. Limited tracking to the destination.  Learn more.

Global Express Guaranteed 1-3 day delivery to more than 180 countries, when mailed from a Post Office™ location.  


Tracking cannot be purchased and added to any other mail class. It is only included in the classes listed here.



I ordered some things that are coming from a different country and they sent the items.  There are 4 total.  The problem is they sent them to an address that doesn't exist. They basically combined my new address and my old address and came up with an address that doesn't exist and that's where they sent the packages.  How do I intercept them and get the right address on them so that I receive them??

Hello Kim,

Thank you for contacting ShippingEasy. I am afraid this would be an issue that you would need to address with the seller if they are liable for lost shipments. 

If a shipment is not deliverable the standard practice is to return the parcel to the sender. 

If the shipment is still in the postal stream you may be able to contact the carrier delivering the package, but they may charge for additional shipping if they are able to reroute the package at all.

I hope the shipper is able to resolve this issue with you!

Why I can't track registered shipments from European Countries to USA?

For example inbound post tracking doesn't work for Estonia.

International Post tracking usually ends with last record being departure from country of shipment - no USPS data.

USA tracking data is available only when requested through European sender Post Service.

Why USPS doesn't make this public for customers?

Is it coming to change?

PS. Probably packets are traceable but these are rare compared to registered small packets.

Tracking is available for Estonia via E-USPS DELCON INTL for the following package types

  • Small Flat Rate Box
  • Flat Rate Envelopes (excluding Flat Rate Gift Card Envelope)

Unfortunately, Estonia does not have tracking available via ECOMPRO. This is a limitation of USPS. At the moment, we do not have updates on if USPS will make any changes to notifications or available options. If they do, we will be sure to update this article.

I'm not sure what corresponds to small packet in US terms but EE-USPS DELCON INTL doesn't seem  to cover US inbound packages.

And presently this is a big problem.

When US customer buys something from Europe, then according to my experiences there is no tracking info available in USPS system.

Clicking to tracking info link at it's best states, that seller is still preparing shipment, when item may be arrived to local US post office several weeks ago already, when noone doesn't know it.

I have the same issue as the gentleman above. I ordered something from Costa Rica and when I track the item with Costa Rica it says in transit after it says left for USA. But that's it it doesn't go further. I ordered this in March 4th 2019. I still do not have my package. I ordered another package in April 4th 2019 from Costa Rica, and I have this package, but when I go to the tracking website it still says in transit (even though it has already arrived). And the last notes say left for USA. So how am I supposed to find where my first package is that I ordered a month before the second package????

Unfortunately, we don't have any further information on the limitations of incoming International orders.

E-USPS DELCON INTL refers to a specific USPS international tracking service: Electronic USPS Delivery Confirmation International service. It may also be called E-DelCon Service.You may want to reach out to USPS if you have further questions about incoming International tracking limitations.  For outbound packages to Estonia, USPS only covers tracking for these package types:

  • Small Flat Rate Box
  • Flat Rate Envelopes (excluding Flat Rate Gift Card Envelope)

I wish I had more information on how USPS handles outbound packages from International Locations.  I did check the EE-USPS DELCON INTL information for packing outbound from the US, and did not see Costa Rica listed as a supported country. I am assuming it is not supported for inbound as well, but I am not certain.  I would love to see USPS make some updates to tracking services for International orders!  I can certainly understand how uncomfortable it is not to know where your package is.  I would check the link above and possibly give USPS a call to inquire about incoming packages from International Locations.

In December 2018 I discovered that US inbound shipments tracking has been linked to Ebay.

When carrier company name is set Omniva (Estonian Post), most US inbound deliveries are fully traceable with mouse click to tracking number provided to Ebay.

On the same time, this tracking info is not available from any public post tracking portals. Neither from Omniva site, where tracking info ends with departure from country.

Tracking states my package has been sitting at ELK GROVE VILLAGE IL DISTRIBUTION CENTER since Feb 4 2020 and has not moved. I mailed this package Jan 11 2020.  I have called twice, have case number but No updates. My package tracking number is CH088850897US. Students in Japan are waiting for the books. The trouble all started when a postal employee did not put the postal service printed label on the package. The other package i sent was returned to me and i was able to resend and was received in Japan already. Please look for this package.

Thank you for posting on our forums! If this is via USPS, what you can try to do is file a missing mail claim to see if they can find your package (if it is an eligible service, otherwise, it'll let you know it can't be used for this service) which I have linked below.

How can something be picked up by shipping partner, usps awaiting and then sorted but then back to Hong Kong to leave the country on the 8th and 10th day of june. Arriving in usa on the 11th at customs. Was the first round in Hebron ky not really in the country? Why do they say it is there waiting for pick up? Here is tracking number cause it's making me feel confused like maybe i dont understand terminology of logistics. 420192499274892700545000002929485

Thank you for your post.  

That does sound a bit odd.  I recommend reaching out to the Carrier directly so they can advise on that particular shipment.  Once a shipment enters the mailstream then the Carrier would be the direction to go for questions on a shipment.
