Combine and Split Orders | FAQs

If you have multiple orders that are all shipping to the same address, you can combine them - saving time and money!

Combining Orders:

ShippingEasy makes it easy to combine multiple orders from a customer if they are going to the same address. This allows you to consolidate orders into a single shipment and save shipping and packing costs. For more information, take a look at our step by step guide.

Can I combine multiple orders going to the same address?

Yes! Combining all orders with duplicate recipients streamlines shipping. ShippingEasy can identify all orders that have duplicate recipients and combine them accordingly. For more information, take a look at our step by step guide.

Can I combine orders from different stores?

No. Orders from different stores cannot be combined.

Can I combine orders after I’ve “Split” them in ShippingEasy?

Where are email notifications sent for combined orders?

The shipment confirmation email will get sent to the email address on the surviving order and will contain the order data for the surviving order.

What happens to the line items when I combine orders?

Combining orders in ShippingEasy will combine the order total amounts. The newly combined order will display the combined totals for: shipping paid, sales tax, subtotal, discount, and order total.

NOTE: if the orders being combined had previously been split from the same order, the total amounts are not combined to avoid double-counting

What happens to my packing slip data when I combine orders?

If you use packing slips in ShippingEasy, we do not recommend their use as invoices. If you combine orders regularly, it may be advisable to edit your templates to exclude order Subtotals and/or Totals. Learn more about customizing packing slips.

What happens to a category tag when an order is combined?

When you combine categorized orders, they lose their category. The orders will no longer have the color-coding included. If you would like the category to be included, you will need to add it back in. Learn how to re-categorize orders.

What order survives when I select to combine my orders on the ORDERS page?

When using the auto-combine function for duplicate recipients the oldest order is retained.

When selecting to combine your orders manually, the FIRST order you select for the orders you select to combine becomes the survivor.

Example:If you select order 154 first, then 153 and combine, the surviving order is 154. Alternately, if you click order 153 first, then 154, order 153 survives. Additionally, if you combine orders to two different addresses, then the order with the address you pick to retain is the one that survives.

 

Splitting Orders:

ShippingEasy makes it easy to split a single order by line items, or to split out the quantities of a single line item. This allows you to fulfill orders as inventory becomes available, as well as optimize your packaging.

When an order is split, is a confirmation email sent when each part of the order ships?

Yes. Shipping confirmation emails will be sent for each shipment, as long as the shipments have their own unique labels. The exception to the rule is with UPS/FedEx Multi-box shipments where ShippingEasy will send a single email for all labels printed.

What happens to a category tag when an order is split?
