Insurance Options in ShippingEasy

Shipping insurance protects your packages whether they are lost, stolen, or damaged during transit. In ShippingEasy, you can choose to go with the carrier insurance or purchase insurance through our partner Shipsurance. Shipsurance provides coverage against loss and damaged shipments at heavily discounted rates. Compare carrier included insurance with Shipsurance.

Carrier Insurance

The following carriers include insurance with select services, ranging from $50 to $200 per shipment.

ShippingEasy will display a message once you select the carrier and a service that includes insurance.

If you need more coverage than the service provides, you can purchase additional insurance with Shipsurance. View the Shipsurance insurance price guide.

Shipsurance insurance is available when a form of delivery confirmation is on the shipment (i.e. delivery confirmation, signature confirmation, adult signature confirmation). Many USPS services include this. For others that do not, you may be able to add a Delivery Confirmation option on the READY TO SHIP page.

Shipsurance can be used with the following carriers' services:

  • USPS
  • UPS
  • FedEx
Shipsurance cannot be used for DHL shipments.

For shipments that come standard with insurance - like Priority Mail Express or UPS Declared Value - insurance purchased from Shipsurance would be in addition to the standard amount. Learn more about how Shipsurance is calculated.

USPS from ShippingEasy One Balance

All USPS from ShippingEasy One Balance outbound shipments (domestic and international) can be insured in $100 increments with Shipsurance, ranging from $100 to $10,000 in coverage. With two exceptions, First Class (domestic and international) shipments may be insured up to $999.99 and Priority Mail International shipments may be insured up to $5,000. View a detailed summary of insurance coverage limits.

UPS from ShippingEasy One Balance

UPS from ShippingEasy One balance offers reduced rates on UPS shipments and is supported by ShippingEasy's Shipsurance coverage. All UPS from ShippingEasy One Balance shipments include maximum liability coverage of $100 for all shipments at no cost, known as UPS Declared Value.  UPS One Balance shipments that need insurance over this amount are only eligible for Shipsurance and cannot use additional UPS coverage.

The value that you declare for insurance purposes should be the fair market value of the item and not the amount that the item was purchased for. Items must also be packed properly in order to receive insurance payments in the event that the item is damaged or lost.

Can I connect my own insurance rates to ShippingEasy?

ShippingEasy does not allow for third-party insurance integration. However, if you would like to use a third-party insurance provider outside of ShippingEasy or the normal carrier insurance, you may be able to use our Reports feature as a way to request insurance coverage.

Talk to your insurance company to see if they will accept a shipping report. If they do, you can export a Complete Shipping Report each day, mark the orders you would like insured, and then share it with your insurer.
