How can I improve the print quality of my labels in Firefox?

At the ShippingEasy offices, we run the ShippingEasy application on Google Chrome because we’ve noticed the best performance with this browser. However, we know that many of our customers are used to using Mozilla Firefox and want to use ShippingEasy in their most trusted browser.

An example of something Firefox users may come across is label issues. We’ve heard of a delay when printing or a noticeable difference in the clarity of the labels over Chrome users. We’ve come up with a solution to help: make sure your Adobe Reader is functioning as it should.  As the labels you generate with ShippingEasy are available to you as PDF files, ensuring that your Adobe Reader is up-to-date is a great place to start!

So, how do you make sure your Adobe Reader is working as it should, you may ask? Here are some things to check for:

  1. Open Adobe Reader. From the HELP menu, select "Repair Adobe Reader Installation". Allow Adobe to do its thing and try reprinting the label. This repair function is essentially allowing Adobe Reader to re-sync with your browser.

  2. Check to see if there are any updates available for the Adobe Reader program. From the HELP menu, select “Check for updates”. Download any updates that appear.

  3. If you've updated or repaired Adobe, it may no longer be the default application for opening PDF files in Firefox. To ensure that Adobe is being used with Firefox, simply follow these steps:

    Click TOOLS and then OPTIONS.

  4. Click APPLICATIONS and then make sure that Use Adobe Acrobat is selected as the action for PDFs. That's it!

I find label quality to differ depending upon the quality of label used in my Zebra Printer.    The labels provided by FedEx are merely OK...   The labels I purchased from Smith Carona are much higher resolution and print darker and more legible.

That said, I still would like to push for a larger font.

Thanks so much for the tip, Robert!  I know that our Product Manager has been across the discussion around the font size on labels, so thank you as well for adding your comments there.

If anyone else in the community finds that the fonts on the labels are too small, please consider taking a moment to add your thoughts to our feature request forum:

I have the Dymo 450 Turbo and 4XL. Will either of those be a compatible printer?

The Dymo 4XL is compatible with ShippingEasy as it supports 4" wide labels.  You can print a variety of 4" wide labels with ShippingEasy, including 4"x5", 4"x6", and 4"x8".  Unfortunately, the Dymo 450 Turbo is not compatible as the largest labels are only 2.3" wide, a format not supported by ShippingEasy.
