UPS announces rate changes on Dec 24th, 2017

The start of a new year typically signals a change in rates across all postal carriers in the United States, as well as the addition or removing of services from their options. 

An increase in UPS rates and service charges goes into effect on December 24, 2017, with additional changes take place on July 8, 2018. These increases affect a number of UPS services, with a focus on services associated with shipping large and heavy packages as well as value-added service costs.

Here is a brief summary of what's changing for ShippingEasy subscribers who have connected their UPS account with ShippingEasy:

Effective December 24, 2017

  • Rates for UPS® Ground, UPS Air and International services will increase an average of 4.9%.
  • The Large Package Surcharge will apply to any U.S. Domestic package with a length exceeding 96 inches or a length plus girth greater than 130 inches.
  • The dimensional weight divisor for packages less than or equal to one cubic foot in size (1,728 cubic inches) will be 139 for all U.S. Domestic services subject to Daily Rates or Alaska and Hawaii Rates.
