How to: Apply my Product Recommendations

With ShippingEasy's Customer Marketing add-on you can include Product Recommendations on your Packing Slips, Shipment Notification Emails and Automated Email Campaigns.

By default, three recommended products are displayed to the buyer. The products selected for recommendation are taken from a list of globally recommended products that the merchant prioritizes. This allows the merchant to easily highlight specific products.

Before you can activate your Product Recommendations, you will need to select which Products to recommend. If you haven't already completed this step, learn more.

To activate your Product Recommendations:

  1. From the blue navigation bar, expand the MARKETING menu and then select PRODUCT RECOMMENDATIONS.
    If you are in the process of setting up Product Recommendations:
    1. Click the blue Get Started button.
    2. Click the Next Step button until you reach the ACTIVATE page.
    If you have previously completed Product Recommendations setup:
    • Under Activate, click Edit.
  2. Within step (3) Activate, you will select where to feature your Product Recommendations. By activating the feature, you will enable the Product Recommendations variable in the communication templates. Product Recommendations can be activated for the following:
    • Packing Slips
    • Shipment Notifications
    • Automated Email Campaigns
  3. Determine where you wish to use Product Recommendations.

    How to: Promote Products on Packing Slips

    1. Toggle Packing Slips ON by clicking the Off button.

    3. The next steps depend on whether you use the default or customized packing slips.
      If you use the default Packing Slip template:

      The product recommendations variable will be automatically inserted at the bottom of the default template.

      If you use a custom Packing Slip Template:

      The product recommendations variable will need to be manually inserted into the custom template at the very bottom.

    4. The header displayed above the product recommendations is "YOU MAY ALSO LIKE:" by default, but this can be changed by editing the variable.
    5. he number of product recommendations displayed is three by default, but this can be changed by editing the variable. Up to 4 product recommendations can be displayed on a packing slip.
      NOTE: The size of the product recommendations will scale based on the number of recommendations specified and the packing slip size chosen.
    6. With Product Recommendations activated, you can now customize your Templates. Learn more.

    How to: Promote Products on Shipment Notification Emails

    1. Toggle Shipment Notifications ON by clicking the Off button.

    2. The Product Recommendation variable is now available in your Shipment Notifications templates.

    3. The next steps depend on whether you use the default or customized emails.
      If you use the default Shipment Notification Email:

      The product recommendations variable will be automatically inserted at the bottom of the default template.

      If you use a custom Shipment Notification Email:

      The Product Recommendations variable will need to be manually inserted into the custom template.

    4. The header displayed above the product recommendations is "YOU MAY ALSO LIKE:" by default, but this can be changed by editing the variable.
    5. The number of product recommendations displayed is three by default, but this can be changed by editing the variable. Up to 4 product recommendations can be displayed on a shipment notification email.
    6. With Product Recommendations activated, you can now customize your Templates. Learn more.

    How to: Promote Products on Automated Campaign Emails

    NOTE: Product Recommendations are not available for One-Time Email Campaigns because they are not triggered by an order.
    1. Toggle Automated Campaign Emails ON by clicking the Off button.

    2. The Product Recommendation variable is now available in your Automated Campaign Email templates.

    3. The next steps depend on whether you are creating a new Automated Campaign or already have one in use.
      If you create a new Automated Email Campaign using one of the templates from the Campaign Gallery:

      The product recommendations variable is already at the bottom of the template.

      If you have an ongoing Automated Email Campaign created before November 14th, 2017 or you want to build an Automated Email Campaign from a blank template:

      The Product Recommendations variable will need to be manually inserted into the template.

    4. The header displayed above the product recommendations is "YOU MAY ALSO LIKE:" by default, but this can be changed by editing the variable.
    5. The number of product recommendations displayed is three by default, but this can be changed by editing the variable. Up to 4 product recommendations can be displayed on a automated email campaign.
    6. With Product Recommendations activated, you can now customize your Templates. Learn more.

  4. Once you're done, click the Save & Finish button.

  5. Now you're all set! Your Product Recommendations will be featured in the templates that you customized.
