FAQs: Migrating to a single Endicia account

NOTE: the information in this article is intended for subscribers who created their ShippingEasy account before September 20, 2017. ShippingEasy accounts created after September 20, 2017 have a single Endicia account. Learn more about Endicia.

We have completed an important change to make printing USPS postage easier:

Ship all USPS domestic and international shipments through a single Endicia account!

The rates and services will be identical, but now you only need to fund one balance.

Why is ShippingEasy making this change?

To simplify and consolidate all USPS postage under a single account. Until today, you maintained two account balances to access the best rates for all USPS services. Going forward, all your postage purchases, refunds, and USPS SCAN forms will be from a single Endicia account.

What exactly is changing?

Before today, ShippingEasy required two separate Endicia accounts: First Class Domestic and International & Expedited. The First Class Domestic account was used to purchase USPS domestic First Class, Parcel Select Ground, and Media Mail shipping labels. Going forward, those shipping labels will instead be purchased from your International & Expedited account.

The International & Expedited account will now be referred to simply as your Endicia account. All USPS purchases are made from that one account.

What do I need to do?

To convert your account, starting Wednesday October 4th, the account user will need to click the button on the modal page in your ShippingEasy account by October 31, 2017.

The button to convert will look like this:

If you bypass the convert button in the modal page, it is still possible to convert your account. Click the Convert to 1 Account link in the top right of your ORDERS page.Endicai_Convert_option_-_Orders_page.png

After converting to using a single Endicia account, your First Class Domestic account will be closed automatically and any remaining postage balance will be refunded.

Will my rates change as a result?

Absolutely not. The rates will be identical going forward.

Do I benefit from this change?

Yes! This change simplifies how you purchase USPS postage.

You no longer need to maintain multiple postage balances, pull reports from two accounts, or print separate USPS SCAN Forms for each account.

Everything will be managed from a single account!

When should I convert to a single Endicia account?

Converting to Endicia Single Account is easy, but there are a few things to keep in mind before clicking the button to make the switch:

  • Check with the Account Owner before converting the account.

    For accounts with multiple logins, secondary users will see the option to convert the account. However, this action cannot be undone. So be sure to check with the Account Owner before converting the account.

  • If you need to cancel labels for a refund, do so before converting your account.

    This applies to any domestic First Class, Media Mail, or Parcel Select Ground labels that you will not be using to mail a package. Once the account has been converted and closed, you will no longer be able to cancel labels, purchased from the First Class Domestic account, for a refund. Unused labels that are cancelled before migrating will be refunded by Endicia within 3 weeks. Learn more about cancelling a label for a refund.

  • We recommend depleting your First Class Domestic account balance.

    Before converting, continuing to generate and purchase USPS First Class labels until your balance has reached near $0. This will ensure that you aren’t awaiting a large refund. We recommend that you disable the automatic postage balance refill on your First Class Domestic account so that it will not be topped back up. Learn more.

  • Download your Endicia transaction history for your records.

    As many businesses use their Endicia transaction history when filing year end reports, it's advised to download your transaction history. You'll be unable to log into Endicia.com with your First Class Domestic account once it has been converted. Find out how to download your Endicia.com transaction history.

  • It’s best to convert at the start of the shipping day as the process will be fastest.

    As part of the conversion process, we’ll automatically generate your First Class Domestic account SCAN Form for the day. The background conversion process will take longer if there are many shipments to add to the SCAN Form.

NOTE: you can choose to delay converting until the end of October. If you choose this route, we recommend that you disable the Auto-refill feature for your First Class Domestic account today to avoid investing more in this account. Once you've depleted your account, use the CONVERT button at the top of your ShippingEasy account to complete the conversion.

What happens to the postage balance remaining in my Endicia First Class Domestic account?

Any remaining postage balance will be refunded back to you. The method of refund depends on how recently you purchased postage and how you paid for that postage.

Last postage purchase was less than 3 months ago:

Credit card: The remaining Postage Balance will be refunded back to the credit card last used to purchase postage.

ACH/Debit: Postage Balance refunds for postage purchased using direct debit from a checking account will be mailed as a check. It is important to verify that the Mailing address on the account is correct prior to closing the account to avoid delays. The check will be issued to the contact name on the account.

Last postage purchase was more than 3 months ago:

If you haven’t purchased postage within 3 months from the Endicia First Class Domestic account, the balance refund may be mailed to you in the form of a check. It is important to verify that the Mailing address on the account is correct prior to closing the account to avoid delays. The check will be issued to the contact name on the account.

What if I have balances in both accounts? Can the balances be combined?

No. Unfortunately it's not possible to combine the postage balances.

To fully utilize any remaining postage balance in your First Class Domestic account, we recommend depleting the postage balance by purchasing any domestic First Class, Parcel Select or Media Mail labels you need.

TIP: disable the automatic postage balance refill on your First Class Domestic account so that it will not be topped back up. Learn more.

If you do not purchase labels for those services often, the best option will be to convert to single account which will close the First Class Domestic account resulting in a refund of any remaining postage balance to your payment method on file with Endicia within 10-15 business days. 

When will I receive my First Class Domestic account refund?

Your First Class Domestic account will automatically close when you click the button to convert. As soon as Endicia completes the account closure, the remaining postage balance will be refunded to you. Endicia refunds typically take 10 to 15 business days before they are credited to your payment method on file. 

How will I know the First Class Domestic account refund amount?

Your remaining postage balance will be refunded. This is listed on the POSTAGE AND CARRIERS page. Find it by navigating to SETTINGS >> POSTAGE AND CARRIERS.

Can I cancel shipment labels in my First Class Domestic account after it has been closed?

No. If you have labels to cancel, be sure to do so before you convert.

This applies to any domestic First Class, Media Mail, or Parcel Select Ground labels that you will not be using to mail a package. Once the account has been converted and closed, you will no longer be able to cancel or request a refund on labels purchased from the First Class Domestic account. NOTE: if you wish to check on the status of your postage refunds, please wait to convert your account until the funds have been posted back to your postage balance. Once the account has been converted, you will be unable to check your refund history at Endicia.com. Learn more about confirming postage refunds at Endicia.com.

Can I access my First Class Domestic account after it has been closed?

No. If you need to access your First Class Domestic account, you must do that before the account is closed. Learn how to log into your Endicia account.

Will I still be able to create labels domestic First Class, Media Mail and Parcel Select?

Yes, absolutely! You will still have access to the same USPS services in ShippingEasy, though now all labels will be created through your single Endicia account (previously called International & Expedited).

Will I still be able to create labels for international consolidators?

Yes, if your First Class Domestic account was configured to print consolidator shipping labels, you will be able to print those same labels after you convert your ShippingEasy account to use a single Endicia account. Consolidators that may be linked to your First Class Domestic account include:

  • APC Postal Logistics
  • Asendia
  • DHL eCommerce (DHL Global Mail)
  • Globegistics
  • International Bonded Couriers
  • International Mail Service
  • OnTrac
  • RR Donnelley Logistics

Will I still be able to create scan-based return labels?

Yes, but only if prior to the conversion to a single account both of your Endicia accounts were configured to print scan-based return labels.

After converting your accounts, please check to see if you can select scan-based return labels on the READY TO SHIP page. Contact our Customer Success team if you are unable to create a scan-based return after converting your account.

The maximum postage balance allowed in my account was $500, will it be greater now?

By default, all Endicia accounts have a maximum postage balance limit of $500.  However, we can help you to increase the limit if you'd like! Feel free to reach out to our Customer Success team for assistance or follow the steps in this article to increase the limit in your Endicia account. 

NOTE: If you had previously increased the maximum postage balance limit on your International & Expedited account, that increased limit will maintain on the Endicia account after you convert.

Will I still be able to use my own existing Endicia account in ShippingEasy?

No. With the introduction of support for using a single Endicia account for all USPS purchases, ShippingEasy no longer supports using an Endicia account created outside of ShippingEasy.

Will my existing Endicia account that I added to ShippingEasy be closed?

No. If you created an Endicia account outside of ShippingEasy and then used that account in ShippingEasy, ShippingEasy will not close that Endicia account. That account will, however, no longer be available to use in ShippingEasy.
