Label Errors and Failed Labels | Troubleshoot

Sometimes you may run across an error while purchasing labels. This guide contains some of the more common errors. Check the table below to find the error you have encountered. If you are having trouble buying a label, see our guide to troubleshooting purchasing labels on READY TO SHIP.

Error Cause Resolution
You cannot create shipments until you have a valid Rate Provider configured. Please register or connect an account below in order to start shipping. This is an error message that may appear in ShippingEasy. If you have a One Balance account, you can reach out to Stamps.com Customer Support at 1-888-434-0055 Monday - Friday, 6 am - 6 pm Pacific Time.
Due to the current status of your account, you cannot print or purchase funds. This means the One Balance account has been suspended by Stamps.com. You will need to contact Stamps.com to recover the account. Learn more about unsuspending a Stamps.com postage account.
Purchase failed. Account exception Exception with code 0x00560102; module 86, category 1, item 2 You may encounter this error when trying to purchase a USPS label via your One Balance account.  To resolve the error, make sure that the correct credit card is associated with your One Balance account. Learn how to verify your credit card.

If the correct credit card is on file, and you still run into this error, contact Stamps at 1-888-434-0055.

Missing or Invalid Element: ReplyPostage When you create a return for a Military or US Territory address, or for a Priority Mail Express shipment, you will see this error on the READY TO PRINT page. You cannot create prepaid returns for Military and US Territory addresses or Priority Mail Express shipments in ShippingEasy. We recommend that you clearly state in your return policy that you do not cover return postage on these shipments and that the buyer will be responsible for all associated costs. Learn more about return labels.
Missing or Invalid Ship To address

If the address lines have too many characters, it may cause the label to fail.

Review the address lines to shorten the characters according to the carrier limits:

Missing or Invalid ship to StateProvinceCode If you have encountered this error, you are trying to ship a label to an international destination using UPS.

This error is usually caused by including a Province in the address. Try removing the Province from the address completely.

Invalid rate. Ship date is not in the future If you have an order on the READY TO PRINT page that has been there for over a day, you may receive an error indicating that the ship date is past and it cannot be printed. 

To move past this error, click the retry button next to the label.

This will send the order back to the ORDERS page where you can re-select your carrier selections and print the label.

Remove foreign language characters in the address to continue or try again later Foreign language characters in address.

As a first course of action, try waiting and then attempting to print the label later. If that does not work, then check the address for any foreign language characters and removing or replacing them.

Invalid sold to state province code. Valid length is 0 to 5 alphanumeric

If you have encountered this error, you are trying to ship a label to an international destination using UPS.

This error is usually caused by including a Province in the address. Try removing the Province from the address completely.

Only mail classes Priority Mail and Express Mail are allowed for this account

This error may occur if there is an issue with your One Balance account.

Before you can continue shipping USPS, you will need to reach out to Stamps.com to resolve the error. Reach out to Stamps.com Customer Support at 1-888-434-0055 Monday - Friday, 6 am - 6 pm Pacific Time.

Stamps.com will ask you to verify the details of your account. Learn how to find your One Balance account information.

The actual length is greater than the MaxLength value You may encounter this error when shipping an international package via USPS.

The error means that the item description exceeds the maximum characters allowed on customs forms.

To resolve the error, return the shipment to the READY TO SHIP page and edit the item description to fewer than 50 characters. Learn how to edit customs information.

To avoid this issue in the future, consider the following:

Invalid SOAP message due to XML Schema validation failure If you are attempting to print USPS labels and are receiving an "Invalid SOAP message due to XML Schema validation failure." error message, you could be over the character limits allowed. Learn more about character limits for USPS labels.

To resolve the error, click "Retry" on the READY TO PRINT page, where you found the error.

Or, Return the order to the READY TO SHIP page. On the READY TO SHIP page, check the following for any formatting errors:

  • Ship From address
  • Ship To address
  • Package weight
  • Customs form description, weight or harmonized code, for international orders

If you cannot find any errors on the READY TO SHIP page, reach out to ShippingEasy's Customer Success team for further assistance.

ERROR (6003) - The COMMERCIAL_INVOICE requires an electronic LETTER_HEAD You may encounter this error when shipping an international package via FedEx.

This error occurs when there is an issue using Electronic Trade Documents (ETD).

To resolve the error, complete the following steps:

  1. Confirm that ETD has been configured within your FedEx Ship Manager account.
  2. Turn off ETD in ShippingEasy.
  3. Turn on ETD in ShippingEasy again.
  4. Move the order back to the ORDERS page.
  5. Send the order back to the READY TO SHIP page.
  6. Try purchasing the label again.
What does the UPS error "missing or invalid ship from company name" mean UPS error "missing or invalid ship from company name" typically means the company name on your Ship From address exceeds the UPS character limits. UPS Ship From company names can be a maximum of 35 chars (including spaces).

We are getting the following error message.  We called Stamps customer service and they said everything is enabled on their end, including UPS One Balance.  So this appears to be a shippingeasy error.
 
Please help.

I got these errors. Please correct. I  already created manual labels so they just need to be refunded and deleted.
